SCARBOROUGH FAIR
Restaurant Profile
JOE AMIEL'S BAY POINT INN
BPI may be the most stunning restaurant debut at the Jersey Shore in quite some time. With floor to ceiling windows on three sides, the views of Sandy Hook Bay and the Manhattan skyline are spectacular and the sunsets will take your breath away.

The inside dining room is stylish with hardwood floors, crisp white trim and sea blue colored comfortable banquettes. Diners can also eat at the lively BP Bar. A wonderfull stained glass piece of art came from Joe's former restaurant. Outside the Captain's Bar is feet from the water and the deck seats another 140. 15 slips allow boaters to "dock and dine".

Locals will remember owner Joe Amiel as the former owner of The Old Mill Inn in Spring Lake Heights when it was considered one of the best restaurants at the Jersey Shore. Most recently, he was the owner of Salle Tees in Monmouth Beach which was lost in Superstorm Sandy.

But Joe is back and this may be his greatest triumph in his 52 year career in the restaurant business. In typical Amiel fashion BPI staff is well trained and professional, the drink list is creative and the wine list solid with very fair pricing.

The menu features regional favorites from around the country, a raw bar, seafood (fresh and wild, never farm raised) prime steaks and more. Roast chicken is my barometer of how good a kitchen is and this one passed with flying colors. The au jus sauce was amazing. Spicy Louisiana Shrimp was perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of kick. Oh....and the popovers with flavored butters are worth the trip alone.

Here's hopping Joe will start a ferry service from where we live in Brielle so we can go more often.....
